The Foundation
In 1993, four Atlanta visionaries – J. Veronica Biggins, Robert L. Brown, Ann Cramer, and G. Lemuel Hewes – united to encourage corporations, foundations, and individual citizens to invest in the continued health and wellbeing of Atlanta through this vital public resource. Grady Health Foundation, a 501(c) 3 public charity to raise funds for state-of-the-art medical equipment, facilities and programs was born.
The Grady Health Foundation continues in the spirit of its founders attracting thousands of business and civic leaders, community residents, medical professionals, employees, and grateful patients to support the medical treatment, education and research at what has become Georgia’s largest safety net hospital.
Our Mission
We are dedicated to improving the quality of healthcare services for Metro Atlanta’s indigent, uninsured and critical care patients through funding education, capital renovation, research and development, advanced medical technology, and support.
“The role of the Grady Health Foundation is to facilitate generosity. We work diligently to match the philanthropic interests of our donors to the health care needs of the men, women, and children receiving medical treatment at Grady. Through the contributions of our donors, we have been able to accomplish amazing things, such as fund cancer research, purchase new ultra sound machines for rapid diagnosis in the trauma bays, and promote employee health and wellness with the renovation of the Brian Jordan and Steve Atwater Employee Wellness Center. Every gift makes a difference.”
